Message from the Director
Karen Jacobs
IES was born from the discussions and numerous requests made by Aboriginal Elders, for our people to get involved and be engaged in opportunities that impact our land. As a result, IES was registered and commenced business in early 2010. Our aim was to operate as a business hub and build relationships which would provide inroads into natural resource mining and construction. Since then we have evolved, now achieving outcomes on contracts and the provision of specialist consultancy services in meeting the Aboriginal heritage requirements in the landscaping & environmental sectors, urban design, planning, construction and infrastructure industries. As Whadjuk Traditional Owners (TO) we understand our ongoing role and responsibility not only as the first peoples, but also the custodians of our country.Whilst we appreciate that progress in inevitable, we see our role as maintaining the balance and imbed what is truly unique about our cultural practices, spirituality and our people into a cultural narrative that can be experienced by all and provide an ongoing cultural education. We take seriously the care, maintenance and protection of the environment in which we live and as a Whadjuk business we are commited to engaging with other traditional owners groups and communities to deliver simular outcomes on contracts that extends into their land.
